Reflexology for Lymph Drainage (RLD)
Reflexology for Lymph Drainage (RLD) is a specific reflexology technique which focuses on stimulating the lymphatic reflexes on the feet that aim to cause an effect on the lymphatic system in the body. RLD treatment stimulates the flow of the lymph through the lymphatic system which explains the reduction of swelling.
This unique technique has been researched and developed by Sally Kay BSc(Hons), whilst working in Cancer Care, primarily to treat patients who have gone through treatment for breast cancer. It's common for breast cancer patients to develop lymphoedema - a swelling of the arm or leg - after the operation. The swelling is a sign of damage to the lymph vessels or lymph nodes, which leaves a build up of fluid. Patients can experience such pronounced and painful swelling that movement becomes restricted and their body confidence plummets. There's no cure for lymphoedema in traditional medicine so many people live with this painful condition, unaware that RLD is a scientifically proven holistic therapy capable of treating it.
A great advantage of RLD is that only the feet are worked avoiding direct touch to the affected area which may be painful. It is also deeply relaxing.
RLD is also effective for people with other (non-cancer related) more common conditions and for those suffering with auto-immune disorders. The following listed conditions and more, can benefit:
- Chronic Fatigue
- Sinus problems
- Muscular tension
- Aches and pains
- Premenstrual syndrome
- Fluid retention
RLD is not only for those with the conditions listed above. It's also used a therapy to boost lymph system. People who may feel sluggish, lethargic and find it difficult to get going in the morning can use RLD to help them feel more energised.
Many people experience immediate result even after one session. Weekly treatments for a period of 4-6 weeks are recommended to achieve maximum improvement.
